Clean-out-the-fridge Pasta Sauce
Jun. 29th, 2008 08:02 pmSo... I made something today that probably doesn't sound very good, but ended up being... well... good.
I was making spaghetti, to start with. I had browned my ground beef, and added a clove of minced garlic. I pulled out the pasta sauce, and found that the mushrooms that I had in the fridge were now growing some fungus of their own. Yuck. Then I saw the forgettable lentil salad I made the other day- lentils, basalmic vinaigrette, carrots, and celery- and realized that it was about to go bad. So what did I do? I chucked it in the pot, and then threw the tomato-basil pasta sauce I had over it.
The result was surprisingly good. It kind of reminded me of Indian food and Italian food at the same time- fusion? Nah. But it was good. I'd even put it on sandwiches like sloppy joe mix.
