The Angry Geologist Rides Again

I went on a five-mile bike ride this morning with TG and Doc. There were hills, and much rejoicing because I've finally figured out how to shift through them.

My body let me know that it was extremely unhappy with me when I got home. "You dragged me out of bed at 7 AM on a day when I'm supposed to be sleeping in, fed me a teeny breakfast and made me do that?!? Bitch, it's on!"

I had to take a shower and lie down for a little while. Then I cooked a nest egg, thus negating any benefit of the exercise I got this morning.

WOW AND YAY! I was over thirty before i figured out how gears worked! I hope you're proud.

*rolls eyes* The benefits of exercise is more than just burning calories, Ms. Geologist.

Sounds like a serious workout to me.

My quads were doing this sort of WOM WOM WOM thing.

I know.

There is chocolate, too.

Congrats on the gearage! Hubby and I ride tandom when I'm not laid up, and learning to shift on a tandom is like learning to shift a semi with the engine governor choked. I can't count how many steep hills I've skipped the chain on on our tandem.

A hot bath and ibuprofin will help minimize the quad pain tomorrow - the saddle sores are up to mother nature ><

One year we decided to do a 35 mile charity ride when the season first opened on exactly 10 minutes of training prior (just enough to make sure the tuneup on the bike was right and we weren't going to encounter mechanical difficulties). I don't think I could sit right for a week afterwards.

As for the nest egg? Meh, you still got a good cardio workout, and it's still better than sitting in a computer chair stairing at the radiation being emitted from your monitor.
