As many of you who have known me for over five minutes will attest to, I absolutely despise plagiarism. I deal with it enought that I've come to believe that if a student is caught copying a homework assignment off of a webpage, he or she should fail that assignment. If he or she is caught twice, he or she should be kicked out of college and be forced to take that minimum wage job at McDonalds.

I value intellectual property very seriously, and if you're profiting off of something that isn't yours without giving the guy that actually did the work a cut, you should face consequences.

An "artist" called Todd Goldman- you remember him? He's the jerkoff that designs the "Boys are stupid throw rocks at them" T-shirts that look like they were drawn by a fourth grader.

I hate those shirts. Almost as much as I hate plagiarism! Oh... wait... Todd Goldman is a plagiarist! It all makes so much sense now!

If you don't feel like clicking on the link and wading through 80 pages of Something Awful fora, let me sum it all up for you: Dave "Shmorky" Kelly is a webcomic artist who did a feminist slanted strip called Purple Pussy (work safe, but you wouldn't want the boss/advisor/kid to read over your shoulder because of language) It's like the second or third comic that Todd Goldman traced. Not copied, traced All that's different is a lightbulb and a bow. I guess two paintings sold, and they went for about $6000 US.

On top of everything, Todd is acting like a five year old about the whole thing. In this Las Vegas Sun article he states that the people (like me) who are angry about this are "just a bunch of hater artists trying to take me down." I'm not even an artist! Plagiarists just piss me off!

This isn't over. There's evidence he ripped off a bunch of other people as well. He will face consequences.

But not soon enough for me.

I put this plea out to my livejournal friends: if you happen to be shopping and see one of Todd Goldman's (from David and Goliath) T-shirts, posters, paintings or other merchandise, ask to speak to the manager. Inform them of the situation, and tell them that you prefer to give your business to merchants that respect intellectual property. I doubt that many of you are the target audience here, but if enough people start talking, eventually someone is going to hear.

Thank you- the rant of the day has ended.
